Gini Rivers, Secretary
I have lived in Glanwydden for the past 13 years, when I moved back to the family home here. I worked in & enjoyed London for 9 years, flat shared with locals explored and left bits of my heart in Sevilla & Toulouse, then returned to Wales to give my son an outdoors, healthier childhood. I’m a big kid at heart and love to bring people together for events of all kinds. I don’t mind challenges & led a team of some 30 young people from disaffected backgrounds when I was the Operations Manager for a Social Enterprise. I have also done a long stint of work with Conwy County Borough Council managing some 70 lively recycling men & their wagons to complete their work. This allowed me to see local government from the other side and, controversial, I know, but in my limited experience they have always been supportive & helpful to anyone who asks. Nowadays, I’m in education & associated project work. I love this little gem of a Valley and have memories going back to childhood. In helping to set up the Trust & Friends I wanted to protect the wildlife and community hand in hand against climate change and other pressures, for generations yet to come. I get a kick encouraging people to understand how rare & special it is.
Mike Bird, Chair
I have lived in Glanwydden for 17 years, before that Bryn Pydew for six years. For some of that time I was Secretary of Bryn Pydew Village Hall Committee.
Up until a few years ago I helped keep open footpaths in the area, but there is still so much to explore!
The area is wonderful, so I try to help out a little at Village Picnics and events, the new charity and “Friends” is a logical next step, to raise funds for local projects.
By profession I am a chartered surveyor, tending more towards the the techie side of life these days!
